It seems that Senate Finance Committee Chairman, Max Baucus has been giving his Whitehouse-staffer-girlfriend, Melodee Hanes, hefty taxpayer-funded favors. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30478.html

In 2008, he gave her a $14,000 per year raise — making her salary the highest on Baucus’ payroll.

Later that year, in the middle of an economic crash, he used our money to take her on a trip to Vietnam and Dubai even though her job had nothing to do with foreign policy. Did I mention this trip cost more than $14,000 per person? I suppose Senator Baucus will put it on our tab.

Now he has nominated her for U.S. attorney in their home-state of Montana.

Really, Baucus?

After threats that the details of their relationship would be revealed, Ms. Hanes withdrew herself from the nomination.

They now live together on Capitol Hill.

When confronted with allegations of ethics violations, he stated, “I went out of my way to be up and up.”  I’m sure Maxie was being plenty “up and up” while they were overseas.

Lets show proper respect for this man by showing up in large numbers and learn what he stands for. The next meeting is March 29th at 6:30 at D’Iberville Recreation center off Brodie Road. If you have not attended a meeting in a while you have missed quite a lot. Please don’t miss this one, our nation and our state needs you to be engaged.

Biography
Hudson Holliday is a lifelong resident of Poplarville and the youngest of six children. His parents, Lawrence Henry and Mattie Holliday, provided a stable family environment where he learned the values of hard work, honesty, caring for others and standing up for what he thought was right. He graduated from Poplarville public schools, Pearl River Community College and The University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Business Administration. In 1995, he graduated from the U. S. Army War College and in 2005 was inducted into the Fort Benning, Georgia Officer Candidate School (OCS) Hall of Fame. Upon Retirement from the Guard in 2004, he received his second star after almost thirty-nine years of continuous service to our state and country.

Hudson is married to the former Paulette Kirkland and they have three children and two grandchildren. Paulette is a registered nurse currently managing the ICU/CCU at a major hospital. Their oldest son, Paul Bradley, is a construction company superintendent.
Laura Heather works for airport security (TSA) in Gulfport and their youngest son, Michael Thomas, an Iraqi war veteran, is a private construction contractor.
Hudson worked in the oil fields and mechanic shops during the summer while in college, and since graduating has been involved in a wide variety of jobs. Upon completing basic training in the Mississippi Army National Guard, he worked for the Boeing Company on the Saturn Project, starting as a methods analyst and rising to be the administrative assistant to the manager of Industrial Engineering/Production Control. When the Saturn program ended, he enrolled in OCS at Fort Benning, Georgia, graduating as a 2nd Lt.
With an entrepreneurial spirit and a positive outlook, Hudson Holliday sees opportunity everywhere. Be it farming, timber harvesting, home building, heavy construction, law enforcement, real estate development, soldiering, or even crop dusting with an airplane, Hudson has the business experience. This vast work experience gives him special insight into what working Mississippians go through everyday and an understanding of how government can and does impact the hard working people in this state. Today , besides being a county supervisor, he is involved in the restoration of our wetlands.
As a pilot, he promoted the local airport and served on the local airport board for many years. He continues to serve on the Hancock Bank advisory board where he has been a member for 15 years. As a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in Poplarville, he is serving his third consecutive term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

A first term supervisor, Hudson has quickly earned a solid reputation as being a champion for the people. He continues to focus on ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government while at the same time being a staunch advocate of personal property rights. His main goal as supervisor is to improve the lives, futures and fortunes of all the citizens of Pearl River County.
As for hobbies, his love of old cars is evident when you visit his workshop, where he does most of the restoring work himself. When he is at home, you can find him in his shop or out working around the farm. His latest project is a 1942 International Truck which he is building to be his “Parade Truck” during the campaign. Be sure to look for it when it comes to your community.

Saturday night was not a good night for TLB as I sat anxiously in front of the TV waiting for the vote on cloture ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloture#United_States ) of Dingy Harry Reid’s 2000+ page healthcare reform bill, knowing full well that it would pass. Thursday, Reid introduced his new reform bill and announced that he wanted a vote by Saturday, which would only give every senator 34 hours ( http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/nov/19/health-bill-could-get-34-hour-reading-senate/ ) to read the legislation. The Congressional Budget Office quickly put together analysis ( http://cboblog.cbo.gov/?p=426 ) on the bill stating that despite its almost $1T price tag, the legislation would “yield a net reduction in federal deficits of $130 billion over the 2010-2019 period.” How could this be? Do they think we’re easily fooled into believing that an increase in government spending could reduce debt? Then I came across the full list of tax increases ( http://www.atr.org/breaking-full-list-tax-hikesbr-senate-a4227 ) imposed by the bill and it all made sense. Two of these taxes I feel are very revealing. I have been a strong advocate of healthcare reform in the sense of significantly reducing government regulation in the healthcare system, which would increase competition among private companies, which would then lower prices.

I also believe that promotion of charity hospitals and clinics would reduce the need for government programs. The government, like the team player it is, has placed itself into full competition with the private sector – if the referee is on the other team, we all know who wins the game. Some of the taxes include a tax on Health Savings Accounts (tax-free health accounts that create incentive for patients to save their own money to pay for healthcare) and a tax on charity hospitals. Can someone please explain to me how taxing health savings and charity hospitals will increase patient access to healthcare???? All of these tax increases, including an income tax hike on the wealthiest Americans, will be enacted immediately upon final passage of the bill. However, the “benefits” of the legislation will not take effect until four years from now, creating the appearance of false affordability. After purchasing ( http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2009/11/the-100-million-health-care-vote.html ) some key votes (on our dime mind you!), Dingy Harry’s wet dream came true and cloture passed in the Senate 60-40. When the Senators return from Thanksgiving recess next week they will vote on final passage of the bill with limited debate, which will most likely pass. In the meantime, TLB will be drowning her sorrows in a gallon of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

America the Great?

Everything we do in this country is made possible by energy whether it be nuclear, electric, petroleum, coal, etc. The food we eat is cultivated by a tractor run on fuel. It is processed in a factory lit by electricity and shipped to grocery stores powered by nuclear energy. Therefore, if the price of energy rises, then the price of everything rises. That’s exactly what Congress wants to do — raise the price of energy. House Resolution 2454, if implemented, will cause job loss, a reduction in household income, and will raise prices significantly.

On May 15, 2009, Representative Henry Waxman of California introduced House Resolution 2454. He titled it “to create clean energy jobs, achieve energy independence, reduce global warming pollution, and transition to a clean energy economy.” The bill is based on an idea called “cap and trade,” a system in which the federal government places a limit on the amount of energy used by companies and individuals. Ben Lieberman of The Heritage Foundation, a research firm, described it to work by “raising the cost of energy high enough so that individuals and businesses are forced to use less of it.”

One of the bill provisions is that every car must be capable of operating on alternative fuel. This means that American manufacturers must produce new cars that run without using gasoline. People who support this bill argue that the environment will benefit greatly from the reduction of gasoline use. I say that it is impossible to require already bankrupt automakers to invest in the technology of alternative fuel and to make every new vehicle to meet these standards. I am sure that creating these fuel efficient cars will require the use of a large amount of energy. If the manufacturers use more than the government allowed amount, they will be fined. They are not just going to absorb this loss. They will pass it on to their customers who will have to pay high prices for the new government mandated clean energy cars.

This future law will not only impose restrictions on companies, but on the average American citizen. Building codes will no longer be set by the State or local communities, but by the federal government. Along with enforcing building codes on new structures, every existing structure in America will receive a rating based on its energy efficiency. To get that energy rating on my home, for example, a federal agent will come to my house to inspect the windows, appliances, doors, insulation, etc. If my house doesn’t pass the energy efficiency review then I cannot sell it until I meet the standards. If I have to pay out of pocket to comply with this bill then I am going to raise the price for which I sell the house. Representative John Boehner while reading this section of the bill from the house floor reacted by saying, “ What kind of bizarre notion is that?”

This bill doesn’t stop at taking control of the energy use in our country, but it will impose restrictions on other countries as well. It will require that we only buy goods from countries who have “met criteria and who are on a ten-year reduction schedule.” This means that if China, for instance, doesn’t make efforts to reduce their carbon emissions then we won’t buy goods from them. During the debate of HR 2454 on June 26, 2009, Representative Boehner read to his fellow Members of Congress, “Page 210 states ‘to prevent an increase in greenhouse gas emissions in countries other than the United States.’ I presume that means India and China and they have made it perfectly clear to every one of us that they have no interest and will not go down this path.” This is likely to damage our relations with many countries who rely on our buying of their exports. Boehner adds, “The Wall Street Journal said the other day and suggested that this bill could start a trade war and if we begin to try to impose our bureaucracy on other countries, we could have just that.”

HR 2454 contains 1,427 pages of more rules and regulations just like those above. The Heritage Foundation estimates that if it becomes law, then by 2012 unemployment will have increased by 2 million and by 2035 it will have increased by an additional 2.5 million. The National Black Chamber of Commerce and the Brookings Institution agree with this assessment. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the cost to comply with HR 2454 will total $110 billion in 2020 which is $890 per household per year. Ben Lieberman in testimony before the Senate Republican Conference on June 22, 2009, said, “Electricity will go up 90% in 2035, gasoline by 58%, and natural gas by 55%. The cumulative energy costs for a family of four by then will be nearly $20,000.00.”
It is very important to be informed on the matters set before Congress as their decisions today could change America for the worse. On June 26, 2009 HR 2454 passed in the House of Representatives 219 to 212. It goes before the Senate sometime in the next few months. Americans need to stand up and fight for their freedoms by calling their States’ senators to make sure they do not pass House Resolution 2454.

Joe Tegerdine Supports Property Rights

JOE TEGERDINE: Mississippi Needs Eminent Domain Reform.

Mississippi 4thDistrict Republican candidate for Congress,
Joe Tegerdine, issued the following statement concerning
Eminent Domain Reform.
Our government should not have the authority to take ourprivate property and give it to a
corporation or other private entity.   There is no justifiable reason for infringing upon our
fundamental and constitutionally protected property rights.  Whatever the rational today,
will be the unwinding of more of our freedoms later.  Today is the day we begin to build
a bastion around our Constitution to protect our fundamental rights of Life, Liberty, and
Property.
We as Mississippians find ourselves in the unfortunatecircumstance of having to fight to
ensure these rights because our elected officials have been unable or unwilling to do so.
We have already successfully collected signatures for the Personhood Amendment (Life),
the Voter ID Amendment (Liberty), and have begun to work on the Eminent Domain
Amendment (Property).  We will have the opportunity to vote on these amendments
ourselves without having to rely on our elected officials to properly represent the voice of
the people.
Eminent Domain Reform is Initiative #31 and reads as follows:
“Initiative #31 would amend the Mississippi Constitution to prohibit state and local
government from taking private property by eminent domain and then conveying it to
other persons or private businesses for a period of ten years after acquisition. Exceptions
from the prohibition include drainage and levee facilities, roads, bridges, ports, airports,
common carriers, and utilities. The prohibition would not apply in certain situations,
including public nuisance, structures unfit for human habitation, or abandoned property.”
Farm Bureau worked hard in 2009 to pass H.B. 803 (Eminent Domain Reform). Though
H.B. 803 failed to pass, Farm Bureau is continuing this fight to protect the rights of
Mississippi property owners. Farm Bureau has created a website at
http://savingmyland.orgwhich has instructions and petitions for Initiative #31 which can
be printed directly from the website. We will need to collect 90,000 signatures by
October 1st, 2010 to get this Initiative on the ballot.
Please join me in this fight to get Eminent Domain Reform on the ballot and together we
can secure our rights to property and prosperity, for this generation and future
generations, together.

New Conservative Websites Started

Posted in: News, Opinion | Comments Off

There are two new websites in Mississippi that need your support and attention.

http://www.mississippiconservative.com  This is a news site and updates campaign news in Mississippi’s Fourth District.

http://theonedollarrevolution.com

WHAT IS THE 1 DOLLAR REVOLUTION?

Let me start to explain with a question: If you could send one dollar to the candidate running against Nancy Pelosi and get her defeated, would you do it?

The1DollarRevolution.com is the brainchild of the Mississippi Gulf Coast 9/12 Project. It was inspired by the “Massachusetts Miracle“, the election of Republican candidate Scott Brown to fill the vacated Senate Seat of the Late Ted Kennedy. Also known as “The Scott heard around the world” this election is seen by many as the rejection of the Obama policies that have placed our country in such peril. For over one year now we have watched as our system of government has been transformed, corrupted and “changed” into something we do not like. I say it’s time to change it back to something that the founding fathers would recognize. This is what the The1DollarRevolution.com was created to do. By harnessing the power of the “Tea Party” and “9/12 Project” movements, we the people can take back control of the government that is supposed to be working for us.

Here’s how it works. We will post the candidate information on this site that is sent to us from fellow Tea Party patriots and 9/12ers. These candidates will be the ones that the Tea Party patriots and 9/12ers in their district endorse. Now “We The People” who are not in their district can send a donation directly to the candidate to help them get elected. We will keep a tally of the donations sent to each candidate to keep track of who is getting enough to help them win. Imagine, if you could send one dollar to the candidate running against Nancy Pelosi, and several million of the rest of us did to, that would mean millions of dollars to help get that candidate elected.

All this time we have looked at the situation and said, I only have one vote, I can’t get Barney Frank defeated… well now you can. The purpose of this site is to bring the entire “Tea Party” Nation together as one giant fund raising machine to get conservative candidates elected who will work for us and answer to us. Candidates who are posted on this site will have a brief Bio and information provided to give you an idea of what they stand for and will be vetted by our staff to insure that they hold the values that we have as “Tea Party” patriots and 9/12ers. You will send your donation directly to the candidate via a link to their website on their bio page on this website. Think of it as the encyclopedia of “Tea Party” candidates.

Now, here is where you come in. If this revolution is to be successful, you have to do three things, first: send us the info about the candidate that you want us to put on the site and who they are running against, do that on our Submit Your Candidate page on this website. Second, send at least $1 to each of the other candidates on the site. Third: help us spread the word. You must send this website to every person that you know of who is a “Tea Party Patriot” or a 9/12er. Post The1DollarRevolution.com on every conservative blog you can find. Make this thing go viral and we will have the system in place to get the people we want elected to replace every single incumbent in the house and one third of the senate. Now, let’s be clear, I know there are a hand full of true patriots in the house and maybe even the senate that “We The People” would want to keep. Michelle Bachman is one example. We will certainly support her and any other incumbent that the Tea Party Nation feels needs to stay.

Also, of course you can send any amount you wish to any candidate but if we harness the power of the millions of us who have had enough, we will bring about the “Real” Change that this country so desperately needs. A change back to the traditional values that made this country the greatest place on earth in the history of man. And, the founding fathers would be proud. Let’s get to it. Follow me…

Orrin Hatch: A joke of a conservative

Posted in: Opinion | Comments Off

Yesterday the Senate passed the Omnibus Appropriations bill  http://senatus.wordpress.com/2009/12/13/senate-passes-2010-omnibus-appropriations-bill/ — a $1.1 Trillion bill that has allowed Congress to pass their devastating health-care legislation by using our military as mere pawns. It is currently on its way to One-Term-Barry’s desk for him to sign and destroy us all. But, The Liberty Belle will not go into details on that subject else she will explode into angry oblivion.  Instead, she will rant about football — good ole’ American football.

College league football championship match-ups are determined by the Bowl Championship Series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowl_Championship_Series , which is, basically, a computer generated polling system to determine which teams will play against each other in a set of “bowl games.” The system works theoretically, but there are oftentimes glitches or errors that leave teams out — 2004 season, Auburn was undefeated and yet did not get to play in any bowls or for the championship. This has created huge controversy among college football fans (we all know what the BS in BCS stands for), and it seems also amongst members of Congress.

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/71815-hatch-college-football-playoff-bill-could-pass-the-senate

They have introduced the College Football Playoffs Act of 2009, which passed through an Energy and Commerce subcommittee this week.

They must be joking.

This legislation is being especially pushed by Senator Orrin Hatch, a Republican from Utah. The University of Utah Utes were undefeated last year, but only made it to the Sugar Bowl, and poor Hatch did not get a chance to see them play for the National Championship game.  So now he’s backing legislation to force the NCAA  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA to change their rules.

Abuse of power much?

Not only is it an abuse of power, but an attempt to destroy a booming business. The BCS system has created billions of dollars in revenue through sponsorships, which go to support the NCAA and university athletic programs. This legislation will destroy the commerce of college football, fine universities for not complying to the new rules, and allow government control of how they play the game.

Yes, the BCS is unfair and should be thrown out, but it should be changed by the NCAA and on their terms — not the government.
