History Repeats Itself; a Citizen’s Perspective
Friday, October 23rd, 2009History repeats itself. In our history, bad things have happened to this country. In days gone by, political movements have worked the population into frenzy over supposed imperfections in fellow citizens. In the past it manifested into prohibition. For the good of all, people needed to be forced into a certain way of thinking. But we recovered from their efforts, for years we have looked back at this as if America had a brief bout with insanity. And it seemed that we had learned from the error, the prohibition amendment was repealed. Unfortunately, the mind set that created this movement simply went dormant. Like sleeper cells, quietly waiting for the next time to strike. Over the past few years new generations of progressives have been working on us, on various fronts, to prepare an environment that would be conducive for their next big strike. All of these fronts have had the same format. They are always framed as a crisis, always require government intervention, and all disagreeing with them are treated with disrespect and to personal attacks. We have been bullied into believing people with the politically correct message have a right to be rude and disrespectful. Rules of engagement – they rise above the fray, let their special interest groups defend the cause, and they garner total media support to discredit their opposition. They attempt to intimidate us, making us fearful to the point where we say nothing. Sound familiar? Their tactics have been finely tuned, their warriors know what to do, and they have confidence from recent successes. The light has turned green, they’re ready to go. But something is not right. We are shouting back. What’s gone wrong, why are we no longer silent? It’s simple, we love America the way it is and we are not going to let them kill our country. Now, it’s our turn to stand up and fight insanity.
There has been plenty discussion over healthcare recently. We could argue healthcare reform, cost vs. benefit. No, not here, there’s been enough talk on that issue. But, that’s not the real issue. The healthcare red herring is simply the crisis de jour. Not to suggest we don’t have a healthcare problem, just that the architects of this socialist plan have a more sinister intent. With healthcare as the Trojan, they will attempt to create a new America, where everything is managed by a government with the power to directly control our behavior. We will no longer be able to make decisions affecting our own lives. Because anything we do will in some way affect another. For the good of all we will be told when and how to do everything. We will be told who will live, where we will live, how long we will live. It will be the right of the state to mandate and individual rights will be gone. Now, I may be wrong, but I was raised believing this to be a free country. That meant I, not the government, made my personal decisions. That’s the miracle of the American dream. Your personal rights offered opportunity. Your ability to handle risk and make choices presented you with consequences. Your willingness to accept the consequences, good or bad, made you an American. We were guaranteed freedom and liberty by our constitution. We were never guaranteed success. Reward handed out by the government is not success, it’s a distraction designed to keep you from achieving success. Our military has protected us from tyranny. But the military can’t protect us from ourselves
So my issue is this, if the healthcare bill is really an attempt to kill our constitution, a means to allow tyrants to take over America, where is the national discussion on this topic? We are out their at the town hall meetings, but there is no meaningful media coverage. What coverage there is stays clear of our concerns about protecting our inalienable rights over the right of healthcare by bondage. We don’t want a philosophical change to our country forced on us. Healthcare is broken, I got it. But, how does that justify taking away my right of choice? I thought the liberals are the defenders of the right of choice. I think people calling themselves liberal have been, like us, duped. The pawns, liberal or conservative, are expendable. Truth is, it won’t matter once our freedom and liberty are gone whether you were a conservative or a liberal. It won’t matter that we lost our liberty by vote and not war. The question that comes to mind is this, what if we are right and this is really is a coup to take over America? That may sound harsh, but, how else would you describe efforts to under mind the constitution and blatant disregard for the bill of rights. This is too hard to consider. There is only one answer. We must be successful in defeating any and all efforts to end our freedoms.
We can’t do it alone. They have used every means possible to alienate us, separate us, divide and conquer us. Success depends on an all out effort to educate every citizen, young and old. We must unite, we must be heard, and we must clearly describe the situation. This will be difficult because many in our country do not realize the value of this precious gift they are giving away. They will once it’s gone. Today we are expected to give up freedom for a promise. A promise no one intends to keep. You can’t trust someone willing to achieve their goal through deceit. And this deal is built on deception. For decades our children have been presented a distorted version of American history. Now, they have grown up with a distorted view of America. They haven’t been taught the significance of being an American. The schools have failed our children in so many different ways. We have failed them. We stood by and said nothing while America repeatedly elected corrupt and morally bankrupt leaders. We apologized for our bad politician because he was better than the other guy. We let America fall into disrepair. The cost, now people are wondering without direction, from job to job, from one support system to another. We let politicians mismanage everything, wasting everything, and then allowed them to pay the bills by placing price tags on everything. There’s a tax, fine, fee for just about everything. But, it’s never enough. There’s always a new promise, a new reason to give up more of your pay check. You can’t give away your pay check and still pay you way. When you can’t pay your way, you need to either cut your expenses or find a sugar daddy. So, we let the government take our money and then we ask them to take care of us. Their plan was simple, execution has been flawless. Now our citizens are financially bankrupt and willing to give their freedom and liberty to the people responsible for stealing their personal wealth in the first place. Buddy can you spare a dime. Bottom line, when a government creates a nanny state, prices go up, individuals are less able to afford the basic necessities for life. Healthcare is just one of the many casualties.
We must somehow connect with all citizens to help put things back into perspective. This will be difficult because so many know nothing about the beauty of America. They don’t know how we got here. How do we compete with government sirens singing come to us, we’ll give you all, trust us? They don’t realize the risk we are facing and that this misguided movement will lead us into tyranny. We need to teach them the law of cause and effect. They have been brainwashed, taught to believe government handouts are rights. They need to know that their rights come from a higher power. They need to know that the American constitution is a contract that forces the federal government to honor and protect the rights of the citizens. That giving ownership of your rights to the government makes no sense. They have been poisoned into believing self reliance and hard work are selfish and stupid. We need and want a government based on the constitution and constrained by the bill of rights. What do we do when the protectors of our liberty are the ones trying to rob us of our freedom and liberty? This question was beyond comprehension several years ago. You need to realize, if you stand their and do nothing, America will become an oppressed nation.
